Election Day

Let me preface this by saying – Mom, I’m ok. Nothing is wrong. Although, feel free to call me to ask. That’s always fun!Today is election day. On the ballot here is whether or not the state of Utah would issue vouchers that parents could use to help defray the cost of private school. I am all for this for several reasons. First of all, it would help my family. I have only 1 child. With the exception of my daughter’s teacher, who so far has been wonderful, I have not been that impressed with the school she is at. I have witnessed bullying and total lack of discipline and this is just with the kids outside prior to going into class each day. I have had to bite my tongue and sit back and watch as kids run around like little Hitlers and there isn’t an adult in site to supervise. The school, instead employs 6th graders to keep the peace. The commercials for the anti-voucher people are misleading and come from outside liberal groups who are trying to tell me what to do. This morning I had a Dad ask me what I thought about this voucher thing and I said I was voting for it because I didn’t like anyone telling me what to do. He shot back, can they really tell you what to do? I said “of course not. But the fact that they’re trying and they do so with such manipulation and disdane is unacceptable.” The voucher fight will probably get uglier after the election. I don’t anticipate it winning which is a shame. I would love to remove Michaela from public school. As for the national stuff…shall we have a collective UGH!? It’s going to be a long drawn out year. I still watch with interest because I am a political junky. I live to watch the liberals squirm. Who will win is anyone’s guess. Heaven help us if we have to celebrate a year from now the coronation of Queen Hillary. I am of the mind that what will happen, will happen. But I am optimistic in that Hillary is so disliked that I nearly welcome her nomination. Bring it on. Perhaps her humiliation is what is needed to just make them go away. Obama is against that Comedy Central guy from being on the ballot. That says a lot. He knows that even though that guy is a joke, he’ll take votes away – and a lot of them! I believe enough to sway the election. C’mon Obama..grow a set already. On the flip side… Ron Paul… I guess like in every family, there’s gotta be one. Who are the freaks giving this guy money? If I had to pick my top 4 from the Republicans, I’d pick Huckabee, Romney, Thompson and Guliani. Let’s get real… Huckabee is probably the one who makes the most sense on the right…but who is he? Nobody knows! He’d be a good VP though… Thompson…there is just something weird going on there.. He’s not the same guy that I remember back in Tennessee…But he has a face that folks know and that helps. I’m still for a Guliani/Romney ticket but Rudy has got to stop teaming up with McCain against Mitt. What is that about? Maybe we need a Romney/Huckabee ticket instead? Unfortunately, I am not sure two VP candidates would be enough to win. I certainly think Romney has what it takes to be president but unfortunately, there still some very bigoted, uneducated people on the far right who will vote against him because he’s LDS. And don’t get me started on them…
