1 Comment Resolutions – How am I doing so far?
48 hours into my resolutions and I am already in need of a report card.I am still a poop. But cut me some slack. I have had a cold for over a week now and frankly, I am tired of the snot and coughing. It really wears me out but I am trying.I went on a date with my daughter! Guess what? We ended up at Claires! Surprise!! But this time it wasn’t earrings. It was Lip Smackers lip gloss and fake princess nails. Gads. Grandad says I have created a monster. I like to call it something different – “rediscovering my inner girl.” GIRL POWER!! Have I mentioned that Michaela’s birthday party in 3 weeks is themed Hollywood Diva? Who would have thought this tom boy could accomplish THIS?Trying something new.. well, I am still figuring that out. Yesterday we did do something together as family that was different for us and it was fun. All of us drove up to Logan to see a stage version of 1776. The play was very good. I enjoyed the performances and it was fun to know all the lines before they were said. I wish it was a sing a long play though cuz that would have been awesome. While we were there Dad reconnected with a very old friend – Don Lind. That was neato because I had always heard stories about him being an astronaut and such. I just never really figured him to look so old. Dang. It happens to all of us – even space heroes. The theater was an old re-furbished theater of some bygone era and the show began with a color guard made up of two WWII vets including one who fought in the battle of Iwo Jima. Wow. These dudes were super old. There was definitely a reverence seeing these American heroes carry in our nation’s flag. It was kinda awesome. Then Don Lind led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and we sang the Star Spangled Banner. I couldn’t help but get a little tingle of nostalgia. This is something you don’t see very often any more. What was even more cool was holding my daughter and hearing her say the pledge word for word and singing along too. How many 1st graders can do that? In this day? Sadly, not many.As for the other resolutions, they’ll come in time. But probably not today…
Hey girl! I really liked your resolutions…I only think of that stuff at the beginning of the year for like…well, a friggin’ year…it’s overwhelming so I quit within 5 minutes of making that resolution. Month to month resolutions…that’s interesting! One resolution we have in common? The routine. My new hours suck and I don’t get home until 6:15 -6:45…..but the hours are what they are and instead of whining I should do what you did…try to put a solid effort into changing something in my routine so I’m happier about it. I’ll be doing some serious thinking…otherwise I’m glad to know I’m not alone! Hang in there! Love you!
