Choir Concert Tickets

Every year our family has this grand tradition of going to Temple Square to see the Tabernacle Choir perform their Christmas concert. The concert is usually wonderful and amongst the Christmas lights and usual cold weather, it really gets you into the holiday spirit. Getting tickets for the event has always been a challenge. It used to be that you could go online the day the tickets were released and take your chances that you’d get them. It would sometimes be a frustrating experience but we usually would score some tickets so it would end up ok. Well, last year they changed how they do things and they hold a “lottery”. You register for tickets and HOPE they pick you. I’ll just say it…THIS IS A BUNCH OF CRAP!!! I honestly don’t see how “fair” it is because how the recipients are chosen isn’t really known nor is the number of tickets released divulged. It seems so covert and like you have to know somebody just to get them. In my opinion the FAIR way is to go back to the way they had it before and let it be every man, dog for himself. If their ticket system can’t handle the overload then go back to the old fashioned way of making people wait in line for them. But this whole random selection thing reaks of insider manipulation and it ticks me off. :( Can you tell we didn’t get tickets again this year? This year was kinda important because although technically Michaela isn’t 8 yet, she looks old enough to go and is certainly mature enough to enjoy the concert and not cause a problem. I was hoping we could get all dressed up and make it something special for her. But once again, we’re denied. Dang it.
