No Comments Bring on the snow!
We’ve talked about this for years. The snow fall seems to get bigger and bigger each year and the thought of shoveling is just more daunting with the passing of each season. We buckled down and got an ATV with a plow just in time for winter. And it was just delivered a couple hours ago….but not without any issues…It was grandparents day today and I was out and about with my Mom and Michaela at Michaela’s school and then lunch. We were driving home when I got a text from my nephew asking when we’d be there. I quickly texted back that we were en route and would be home soon. He was relieved because he had been outside with the new ATV and couldn’t get it started. We drove up to find him sitting on thing in the street with a look of dejection on his face. I figured there must be a step he was missing but remembered that when we were in the show room the guys there could start the thing with a start of a button. But when we tried the machine gave an awful noise. This couldn’t be good. So Matt and I went to work pouring over the owner’s manual and finally getting the thing to start but not without some serious muttering of some 4 letter words under our breath. We felt helpless and stupid. This shouldn’t be so hard. We managed to drive it down to the driveway – killing it several times along the way and finally pushed it into the garage. My sister called the dealer – prepared to yell at them for selling us a lemon and not filling it with a tank of gas like they promised. I urged her to be nice. This could be just a simple thing. We are, after all NOVICES when it comes to this sort of thing. It ended up that we were doing everything right. The ATV had a bad battery – probably from sitting in the show room for a prolonged period of time. The dealer got back to us quickly and filled up the tank and replaced the battery. He did nothing special – flipped no switches, turned no knobs…he simply reached over and pushed a button and the thing started. I knew it was as easy as that!! Matt and I looked at each other and laughed. We weren’t morons after all… LOL.So once the thing was idling for a bit we decided to take it for a spin. Up and down the road until our cheeks were frozen. It’s only about 35 degrees out. And going 35 miles an hour without a jacket on essentially a motorcycle is not the warmest experience in the world. Our neighbor stopped by to admire the new purchase. I could tell he was kind of excited to see it. Should be an interesting winter!
