Everything I need to know I can learn from my 7 Year old

Pearls of wisdom…that’s what they call those little things that people say. When it comes from a child it’s “Out of the mouths of babes”… Michaela certainly knows what she’s talking about and it’s usually when I need to hear something the most she puts me in my place. This morning the following conversation took place. To set the scene, we were in the kitchen. I had just fixed Michaela her breakfast and packed her lunch. I decided to have a bowl of Cheerios. I poured myself a bowl and proceeded to pour milk. As I did so, the Cheerios rose rapidly to the top with many of them spilling over the edge and tumbling to the counter.Giggling, Michaela exclaimed, “Fail!”Oh, shush up! I said with a smile. I plopped my spoon into my bowl to take a bite. More Cheerios tumbled to the counter.”DOUBLE FAIL!” Michaela squealed.”Knock it off,” I said as even MORE Cheerios fell out of the bowl.Michaela howled with laughter.”That would be an epic fail,” I said.”What’s epic?”"Something that is really big…something major. See? This is what happens when you get old!”"You’re NOT old! Look at Rick Springfield. He’s 60! That’s old. Are you 60? No!”"No. I’m not 60,” I replied thinking that for a 60 year old guy he’s in much better shape that I have ever been!”When you’re 49 how old will he be?”I thought for a moment…”I dunno… in his 70s. He’s 22 years older than me.”"See?! He was 22 when you were born!!”Like that matters now, I thought…“Yeah,” she continued. “People start to fail when they’re 40.”Great.

Strange moment of the day: Listening to Neil Diamond sing Hark the Herald Angels Sing. I don’t know if that’s ironic or if I should be offended. Maybe both….
