There has been much rumor and speculation about this episode. Between the writer dropping hints (it takes place during Meredith and Derek’s wedding) and the rabid fans in various forums and blogs predicting the outcome, it’s been a virtual frenzy and build up which ultimately led to disappointment for some people. I am not one of them. My expectations weren’t high to begin with. I enjoy the show simply because the characters are fun. The dialogue is witty and it’s one of my guilty pleasures in life. For others, however, this show IS a way of life. They talk about the characters as if they were real people. As I read some of the reaction to tonight’s episode, I was like c’mon, seriously? SERIOUSLY?! (yes, I just said that) Was anyone really that surprised? I wasn’t. So they gave the wedding to Izzie and Alex. Woopdie Doo. Honestly, I thought the gesture was touching. I was most disappointed with how short the actual wedding part was. All this build up and then a wee lil’ wedding ceremony and then Izzie shaves her head. So, for that, the episode was a big MEH!

The only other thing that bothers me about this wedding was that I am not totally convinced of Izzie’s love for Alex. I can understand Alex’s for Izzie. But this girl has been a collosal pain in the butt since the very beginning of this series. Most of the drama seems to center around here which is puzzling considering the name of the show and I just can’t get past how she moves on from Denny, jumps to George and then ends up with Alex. Does that happen??? Denny was supposed to be this great love of her life and she explains tonight that when you’re supposed to be with someone there is a certain funny feeling you get in your stomach and it’s all exciting and stuff. She says that Denny didn’t make her feel that way but Alex does. He does? Since when? Very weird for me. I suppose people do move on from the whole death thing. I admit that there are times that I wonder myself what the future holds in the whole romance department. I seriously doubt there is a future there. That part makes me pretty sad because I’m not what you call old. And this single life is certainly one that I have against my will. Grrrr… So, I dunno…she moved on pretty fast, in my book. And Ijust don’t see that relationship she’s got with Alex as being all that believable. Of course, it’s just a TV show… so whatever.

Whew! A post that isn’t saturated with politics. Yay! To be honest it was really great to get lost in some television tonight. It’s been a long 4 months waiting for the new season to begin. On that note, however, the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy was one really long two hours. Every commercial break that came seemed to be the end of the show but it was like a bad girlfriend, it just came back for more. I would be really jazzed about that but the only thing that “had me” in this episode was the new guy – Dr. Hunt who totally turned on Cristina and for that matter, really was something to look at. We have McDreamy and McSteamy…I’m trying to figure out what his name will be. What’s funny about the actor who played Dr. Hunt is that is in the movie Made of Honor which stars Patrick Dempsey. I spent most of the show wondering where I had seen him before and it was when they showed a commercial for the DVD that I realized that he was in that movie. Not very memorable or attractive in that movie but he seemed to make an impression in this episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

As for the rest of the show…Um…I dunno. I thought Meredith was typcial annoying Meredith. Bailey was kind of a weird desperate Bailey and I wasn’t liking that. Karev was Karev and that was kinda boring. I’m not digging the whole lesbian story with Callie and Dr. Hahn. I’m just not sensing the connection there. Kinda weird. McSteamy is wandering around with no purpose so they better find a way for him to really make some waves because, really..what a waste. Richard was yelling at everyone. What is THAT about? I guess I have mixed feelings about this episode. For a premiere it lacked excitement. It just droned on and on. I hope it gets better but we have to wait TWO WEEKS for another episode. GRR! Now THAT’s annoying.

I’ll be the first to admit that season 4 started off more with a whimper than a bang. I have read with interest the different bulletin boards out there and people are just so up in arms about this season. Frankly, I am enjoying it as much as I have in the past. I will say that season 2 was my favorite thus far but our characters are still great fun and it’s an added twist that they’ve introduced the new interns and have given all of our protagonists extra material to fuel their extraordinary lives. At first I wasn’t too excited about this because there’d just be too many people but really, let’s face it Meredith, Alex, Cristina, Izzy and George can’t be interns forever….well, maybe George can! The biggest complaint I have read about is the relationship between George and Izzy and although her relationship with Denny was truely a good love story, how long should she brood and mourne? Frankly, I would have liked it better to have Denny haunt her but how realistic is that? That being said, why can’t her relationship with George turn from friendship to love? It’s not unreasonable. What was rushed and forced before was his relationship with Callie and subsequent marriage which was, let’s face it a rebound from him being rejected by Meredith. I am so not on the Callie bandwagon. I’d rather see her suffer for a while longer. She seems to do that well. I didn’t care much about her before and I don’t care much for her now.

Alex is the quinessential schauvanistic jerk. Then he met his Jane Doe and it soon became his turn to fall for a patient. Much to his chagrin Izzie fell for Denny but here he’s done the same and has been brooding for Ava for the first 3 episodes until this past week when miraculously Ava showed up and they managed to get it on undetected in some sort of doctor’s sleep room. Their reunion was somewhat unexpected unless you saw the previews but nevertheless, worth the wait. I liked seeing Alex this vulnerable. Ava again begged for Alex to not chicken out on her and the episode ended with her again leaving him, with hopes the he’d chase after her. Alas, it’s not going to happen, I think. Poor Ava. Alex is, after all, a jerk.

Cristina is back. She is finally being who she needs to be – a cut throat resident who’d do whatever to get what she wants. Although I enjoyed Burke and their relationship, I realized I liked her better being like this. I’d like to see her go after Burke’s replacement – ol’ what’s her name. She’s a b with capital B if you know what I mean. Blech. What I like about Cristina is that despite her harshness, she has these rare moments of humanity and that makes for some entertaining TV.

Bailey….ah, Bailey. Poor Bailey. I loved her as the nazi. I want more of that. She’s gone a little soft this year so hopefully, it won’t be a permanent condition. She’s still my favorite, though. I hope she kicks Callie’s butt.

McDreamy vs. McSteamy…at this point who cares? Let them have screen time so we can stare! As for Meredith, I hope that with her finally pouring her mother down the drain, she can move on. Of course she can’t. She’s got little half-sis Lexie to contend with who is a constant reminder of her father who will undoubtedly return to provide more angst and bitterness. It’ll probably happen just as she’s this close to making something of her relationship with Derek and then bam! She’s back on the pity train and deciding that no relationship with any man is worth the heartache. Whatever. I mean, SERIOUSLY can we move on?

So, no. I am not as anti-season 4 as other folks. I am not that disappointed. I was a little bored with episode 1, that is true but this show is still a guilty pleasure – far better than many other shows out there now a days. So therefore, I’ll watch so long as the dialogue is pithy and clever and we get an occasional peek at McSteamy without a shirt. That wouldn’t be too shabby either. The rest of ya, quit whining! On with the show!

It took a while and a trip to the ER but I finally had time to catch up and re-watch the season premiere and episode 2. The first episode wasn’t as boring as I remember. I will chalk it up to being distracted that night but after rewatching the episode, I did see some things that I did like.

I think that if they keep up with the new residents acting badass around the new interns, it could be fun. The fact that Cristina is calling the interns she is responsible for by numbers instead of names is classic Cristina. I liked the fact that George will be worshipped by the new interns – at least for a little while. He’s just been a whipped puppy for the past couple of seasons. I liked that Alex admitted to Cristina, of all people, that he missed Ava/Rebecca and she, in turn confessed to missing Burke (who I actually don’t miss as much as I thought I would). I liked how McSteamy needs his friend more than he needs women. But, I’m still annoyed with the show’s protagonist, Meredith. Will she ever get over her father’s abandonment?

Episode 2 was even better. My favorite part was the exchange between Bailey and Alex. She needed to chew him out and needed her to do it. Bailey is my favorite character on this show. And it’d be a shame to have her wilt under her envy of Callie getting the Chief Resident position. Ugh. Callie. She’s not very likable. I don’t even LIKE to hate her.

So, after 2 episodes, I’m not too disappointed although I still miss Denny and am not sure what to think about Izzies sudden love for George. Unlike other fans, I don’t have a problem with her being in love with George – eventually but Denny isn’t even cold yet. So, it almost seems forced. What if George leaves Callie and then she realizes that all she wanted was his friendship and attention – not necessarily a romantic relationship? That’ll turn George gay really fast – maybe that’s the intent?

I think I will have to rewatch this episode. Either I was tired and missed everything or there just wasn’t much there. One minuted it started and the next it ended and I was left staring at the tv screen thinking “uuuuuuuuuh, what just happened to the last hour of my life?” That doesn’t bode well for this show that I love. BUT, I did not get much sleep the night before and I wasn’t hitting on all cylinders last night. Or could it be that I was distracted by the diamond anniversary ring I got from the hubby for our 10th anniversary!! Okay…back to the show…

Let’s see..we have a new group of interns and George has made the decision to give it another go although I don’t think it was explained why. Last season ended with him cleaning out his locker and meeting Meredith’s half sister, Lexie. Is Lexie the reason? I dunno. Is it Izzie? It can’t be Callie who is just more annoying than ever.

The rest…. Meredith, Cristina, Izzie and Alex return from what I guess is like a month’s long vacation? They let them all take that much time off at the same time? Weird…We find out that Meredith and Cristina went to Hawaii together on what was to be Cristina’s honeymoon with Burke. Alex pined for Ava/Rebecca and got some sort of weird lounge singer hairdo and goatee. And Izzie spent the time alone trying to figure out why George was ignoring her after her declaration of love. Bailey is back and pissed because the Chief gave her job to Callie who as zero respect from the other residents and sucks at her job. It’s obvious that the Chief has a soft spot for Bailey and maybe perhaps is planning to groom her for some other more important position later in her career? Maybe? I dunno. I just hope that Bailey doesn’t spend all season eating sour grapes about this stupid thing and we can see her making other people miserable besides Callie. She’s miserable enough on her own.

I guess the most enjoyable part of this season opener was getting to see how the interns of yesterday had turned into badass residents and are doing all they can to make the lives of the new interns miserable. Cristina is on her way to being Cristina again. She spent some time pining for Burke which is understandable and next week she gets to have a confrontation with her ex-future monster-in-law and hopefully this will close the door on the Burke thing. I thought that Burke’s character was good and the whole thing about Isaiah Washington was dumb and unfortunate but it’s time to get over it.

I am a little concerned about being overrun by too many characters. We have all these new interns and will they be just background filler – people for the residents to pick on? Or will they matter? Is Lexie the only one we’re supposed to care about?

Finally, Derek and Meredith decide to break up but not before they can have break up sex. WHO does that?! And then we’re supposed to get excited about the “sex scene” but then it was a let down. Just a moment of breathlessness and then it goes all slow-mo and shadowy as they kiss and then it’s over. Mmm-k.

So, I guess based on what I can recollect of this season opener, I was a tad let down. I hope next week is better. I will rewatch the episode sometime this weekend…maybe my opinion will change.

This guy just doesn’t know when to shut up about it, does he? Had he held his head up high and left with a little dignity, then maybe some of us would revolt enough to perhaps get ABC to reconsider their decision to let him go. I was pretty irked that he was gone. It left the whole storyline with Burke and Cristina up in the air and for a viewer that is really annoying! Now, I am starting to see why he was let go. He’s a loose cannon and really in love with himself, isn’t he? I have decided that those who cry out racism are the most racist/biggoted themselves. People can be intimidating, not because of their skin color but because of the way they carry themselves and behave. It’s obvious now that he was a liability which is sad because his character was enjoyable and added a dimension to the show that will be sorely lacking this fall.

I’ve been monitoring the Blogosphere stats today and thought I’d comment on a few things I have found. I noticed that I had a visitor from Namibia (I believe that is in Africa and where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had their baby) who found my site when searching for information about Grey’s Anatomy. Funny! So, either Brad and Angelina are back in Namibia surfing the internet or someone in Africa digs Grey’s as much as I do.

I installed the same statistics program on Nana’s blog and she loves to look at who is visiting and from where. I have had to explain a few times the difference between a hit and a visit. A visit is most important. A visit is counted each time an individual IP (or person) comes to your site. A hit is any piece of information that is downloaded from your site (i.e. a page, a photo, etc). So you can technically have 1 visit but have 10 hits at the same time. Well, I noticed 1 IP address had ONE visit and SEVENTY hits! I was like, “What the??” I checked it out and this IP address comes from an ISP in Washington D.C. So…what does that mean? Frankly, I don’t know… it could be a search engine but I don’t think it is because search engines like Google, Yahoo have their own set of IP addresses. Or it could be a really bored politician because in one visit, they pretty much visited every single page on the Blogosphere. They read the whole thing. Maybe it was the secret service! Ooh! Intrigue! Maybe it was Hillary! Boo! Hiss! You suck, “lady”…. Well, whomever you are, I am glad you stopped by and took the time to read everything. Maybe you can come back and actually leave a comment or two.

Stockholm, Sweden has been back a few times this month! Thanks for the read! Leave a comment next time. I don’t care if it’s not in english! Rochester, NY was interested in my trip to Nauvoo – TWICE. So, welcome back! Richland, WA…I think I know who you are! Why don’t you write??

Well, anyway…it’s fun to see where all the traffic comes from. It seems that lots of folks are interested in Grey’s Anatomy and that’s cool. So am I. Let’s get a dialogue going, shall we? Because Isaiah Washington is off the show and has not been quiet about why he thinks he was let go. And TR Knight appears to be a catalyst which is interesting because his character of George, although one I like very much, he’s NOT the show. I mean…um, HELLO! It’s not George’s Anatomy. Sheesh.

This is a bunch of crap. Where’s the forgiveness? What Isaiah said (he called co-star TR Knight a f*gg*t) was bad, yes. But he owned up to it, apologized, sought counseling and met with gay groups. What else was he to do? So is he to be villified for the rest of his career for saying something stupid and cruel? I just love the double standard out there…Rosie O’Donnell can call our military terrorists and she escapes without a scratch but Isaiah Washington can’t make a vocal mistake of his own, apologize and seek help and still get fired? ARGH! Isaiah says he’s mad as hell and he should be. What’s happened to him is wrong. What this does to the show is wrong. His character was a very important one not only because it was important role for an African American but because his character impacts others. Cristina just lost her dynamic equal. This sucks!

In a nutshell, the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy left nobody happy. Not a single character had a happy ending. The chief told each candidate that he/she didn’t get the job. We find out at the end he actually offered it to Derek but Derek didn’t take it because he felt that Seattle Grace just wouldn’t be the same with out the chief as chief. Gee, never saw that coming. Edelle, the chief’s estranged wife who was pregnant - surprise! It was the chief’s kid – a boy. Well, she miscarried and decided that the attentiveness that the chief showed her was enough to make her rethink leaving him. I’m not sure if that’s a happy ending or not. Christina was tortured through out the whole episode of having to endure the wedding stuff when all she wanted to do was cut someone open. Burke exposed his heart to a roomful of women during surgery when he practiced his vows on them. He left them all swooning, including Izzie who decided to declare her undying love for George. George finds out that Callie wants to have a baby but in reality she only wants the baby because she fears losing George to Izzie. George fails his intern test but nobody knows except Bailey who thinks she failed him and she’s down in the dumps because she lost out the Chief Resident job to Callie – CALLIE!!! Ugh. I am starting to dislike her as much as Izzie. Alex is in love with Ava who is really Rebecca who has a doting husband. But Ava/Rebecca wants Alex to admit it and give her a reason to leave her husband. Alex won’t give her one but feels like a total dork when Addison tells him that basically, he’s a dork. He runs back to the hospital to find Ava/Rebecca gone. No happy ending for him, either. Addison practically begs the chief for his job because she needs it. He pretty much tells her to get lost so she will. She’ll leave Seattle Grace so she can go be on that other show with more beautiful doctors. I’m not sure if she’s happy about that. Meanwhile, Derek tells Meredith that he flirted with a girl at a bar. She thinks he’s trying to break up with her and tells him to do just do it. He can’t because he declares her to be the love of his life and the the only one doing the leaving is her. Naturally, she wouldn’t be Meredith if she didn’t bail on him right there. She does and uses Christina’s wedding as an excuse. Meredith wants a sign. She wants Christina to have a happy ending so she can believe that she deserves one to. Well, no can do, Dr. Grey. Burke realizes that Christina is having a freak out moment and much to his smug mother’s delight, he goes to “free” Christina from the bonds of matrimony. He takes his trumpet, lucky scrub cap and leaves her with painted on eyebrows. I’d be pissed. Christina cries and I am not sure if she’s happy either. It doesn’t seem like a happy moment. Lucky Meredith has to tell all the wedding guests to leave and Derek keeps giving her this “oh crap…this does not bode well for us..I should have hooked up with that bar chick afterall” look. George has decided that in no way is he doing his intern year over. So he cleans out his locker while the new interns come in and act all stupid about the smell of the locker room and how exciting it will be to see the caferteria. Really, do new doctors really think about stuff like that? One of the new interns sticks around to get some wisdom from George who says he has none. She tells him her name is something…I can’t remember but the kicker is that her last name is GREY! Oh boy..if he wasn’t so gay..he’d be all over her. He just may re-do his intern year after all…and so the stomach churns….Grey’s little half-sister will now be working side by side with her so we’ll get more of her pathetic father hanging around the hospital and more of Meredith’s emotional void and parental angst.

I love this show….

Lots going on and only 2 more episodes left – boy, they wasted too much time last week with all that Addison stuff! This week tried to make up for all we didn’t get to see last week. Meredith’s dad totally freaked on her and blamed her for step-mom’s death. Subsequently, she ends up uninvited to the funeral and goes into a psychotic state and doesn’t answer one question on the oh so important intern exam. Chief Richard tries to comfort Meredith who promptly puts him in his place by telling him that although he had a relationship with her mother, he is most certainly not her father. Duh. They look nothing alike. So, it appears that she’ll end the season with her future up in the air but George to the rescue! He’s got a position at some other hospital so he can get away from the temptress Izzie and that sinful elevator but George has one more goal to accomplish before he leaves Seattle Grace and that is save Meredith from ruining her life. He enlists Izzie’s help but she tells him that he can help Meredith by not leaving and that he has no reason to leave because she has no feelings for him. She runs off to cry over her huge lie and leaves George to try and talk some sense into Meredith. George isn’t really good with words and Meredith shoos him away to go tattle on her to the Chief.

Meanwhile, the Chief’s estranged wife Edelle has come into the ER due to a car accident and confesses to Addison that she is PREGNANT! She’s 52 and pregnant. It’s assumed that it’s another man’s child and she is adament that Richard not know. The Chief is clueless about his soon to be Ex but is eager to make sure that Meredith takes her test. He has her brought to a private room and tells her that she has 2 hours to take her test. She again proclaims him to NOT be her father and the proceeds to break down in his loving fatherly arms. Awww.

It’s the day before Burke and Christina get married. Christina is obsessed with her test and has no interest in writing her vows. Burke is all about the traditions but is aghast when he finds out that he is without a Best Man. Enter Derek who’s being a huge jerk lately and looking for reasons to dump Meredith. UGH! All he wants is to be Chief and he’ll not only lose that chance but lose her as well and he’ll deserve it.

Callie wows the other doctors by operating on 3 formerly stranded hikers with frost bite and body parts falling off pretty much at the same time. McSteamy thinks she’s giving Bailey a run for her money as chief resident which gives Miranda (Bailey) a huge wake up call – Hey! She’s not the chosen one! Uh.. RIGHT. As if. Callie vs. Miranda? That’s a no brainer. Meanwhile, Callie announces to Addison who is bemoaning the fact that she is baren, that she wants to have a baby. Blech. But then while the bridesmaids are chilling with Christina during her last night as a free woman, Callie has an epiphony when Izzie chides them for taking for granted their true loves and how she would love to be like them. Uh oh, Lizzie loves George! Callie better get knocked up and quick!

Finally, the chief spots Edelle run into the ladies room and is totally freaking out when he finds her passed out on the bathroom floor bleeding out her well….you know.

Then the previews show for next week’s seaons finale… Callie announces her intention to George to be with child, Izzie confesses to George that she is head over heels in love with him – oh what is a gay man to do? Christina’s new mom-in-law decides that she needs to wax her eyebrows and she ends up without any on the day of her wedding! Very frightening. Of course there is bound to be lots of 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts about whether or not to take the plunge. The question is will the wedding happen and can they resolve that in an hour or do we have to wait until September?

I love this show….
