Idol Top 11 – Does it deserve a recap?

Let’s just call the winner now – Crystal Bowersox. Some are saying it’s Siobhan Magnus but she’s too weird! Top 3 will be Crystal, Lee and Siobhan. Sorry, Andrew but you’re just not cutting it anymore.. Too bad because I was really rooting for you.
So this week’s theme was Number 1 hits and the mentor was Miley Cyrus.
That’s right.
Miley. Cyrus.
Let’s take a moment to reflect on that…
Yeah, so the only person that would be an even more ridiculous mentor would be me. Hey, there’s an idea….
Siobhan Magnus – Superstition – Seriously? She is considered one of the top contenders now and I suppose I get it because she’s different. But the screaming is getting super annoying. Her offstage personality is just really dull (monotone voice, et. al). I know. I know…it’s a singing competition…we’re supposed to LIKE them though right? Meh.

Didi Benami – You’re No Good – The was broadway-ish and by that I mean she was certainly performing and playing a part. Her singing wasn’t very good though. She CAN only sing one type of song in my opinion and who wants to buy an album filled with that? Not me. Blech.Casey James – Power of Love – I loved Huey Lewis and the News. I loved the song. I just don’t know if I love the song now 25 years later. He sang it ok. He played guitar awesome. It was good enough to move on but yawn!Katie Stevens – Big Girls Don’t Cry – Ugh.Andrew Garcia – I Heard It Through The Grapevine – Thank goodness for TiVo and fast forward. Painful.Michael Lynche – When a Man Loves a Woman – Nicely sung but kinda boring. But good enough to proceed.Crystal Bowersox – Me and Bobby McGee – The ONLY performance of the night worthy of any mention. Crystal seems to be the only contestant who is consistently good.Aaron Kelly – I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing – Tonsilitis so he’s should skate this week? Well….maybe. I wouldn’t have heaped as much praise on him as the judges did and stupid Ryan Seacrest calling him David Archuleta was down right blasphemous. Not even close, dude.Tim Urban – Crazy Little Thing Called Love – This was just ridiculously bad.Paige Miles – Against All Odds – The WORST of the night. Very disappointing. Simon was right. There were like 5 different people singing the song. Call her Cybill…call her gone. That really sucked. Way to go ruining a great song. UGH!!!!!Lee Dewyze – The Letter – This was a’ight. I will say that he gets an “A” for effort for stepping away from his guitar and trying to inject some personality into his performance. I didn’t really like the song, though. So, that is going against him. But frankly as it stands now he’s still one of my favorites if I HAD to choose a couple which is hard cuz this season sucks @$$.Going home? Ugh! Send them all home! Alas, that’s not to be. It’ll be Paige.

Idol Top 12 Quick Analysis and Results

I was pretty busy this week so I didn’t have time to watch Idol live. Thank goodness for TiVo and the internet. I kinda cheated. I read some reviews before I watched the performances. In fact, by the time I actually started to watch the performances, I already knew who the bottom 2 were – Paige and Lacey – both of whom I was not shocked to see there. So, the performances….First let me say that the judges seemed particularly NICE this week. I don’t know if it’s suppose to give them all confidence because they’re on a bigger stage in front of more people or what. I didn’t think there was ONE performance that was a WOW. Maybe it was the music. I am not a Rolling Stones fan. So, to me the music kinda stunk…but that’s just me….

Michael Lynche – Miss You

I was underwhelmed. Although technically, OK, the performance was sloppy and awkward. It was kinda uncomfortable for me to watch. It’s just weird to me to watch a body builder dance. One part of the body moves and the other part doesn’t. It sounds almost unfair to say because Michael is a really good singer and I like his voice a lot. It’s just not easy to look at. Simon had a valid point about it looking desperate. He was absolutely right. It was good enough, obviously to get through but at some point it won’t be.On a side note…that stupid confrontation between Ryan and Simon was totally lame. Ryan should be chained to the stage. I am sick of the judges and Ryan thinking this show is all about them.

Didi Benami – Play With Fire

Didi was given rave reviews for this performance. I guess it was somewhat warranted because it was dark and haunting and she’s got a voice that should be singing about kittens and butterflies. I wasn’t that enthused though. It’s not a song that I’d ever buy, let alone listen to. I thought her vocals were shaky at best and it’s all just a little warbly and weird for me.

Casey James – It’s All Over Now

I blame Kara for making this harder on Casey. He’s too beautiful to look at and it’s obvious to the judges that they just can’t get past the fact that they have an adonis standing in front of them who could not only sing and sing well but play the guitar too. I think it’s kinda weird too but the fact that I can actually stand to hear him sing while I undress him with my eyes is really a bonus. :-D Still, this performance was really good. There isn’t much moving around while playing the guitar unless they let him totally go and rip out a guitar solo which they won’t let him do. So, what else is there? It’s time for him to sing some sort of sultry ballad and walk the stage. They have enough girls now at the foot of the stage that he could totally play that up and turn himself into a total rock stud. He’s got the sex appeal. He may as well use it. By the way, I don’t recognize most Stones songs… so to me it was like hearing some of them for the first time which is great because I can’t compare to the original. So far, this was the only song that I actually thought was good enough to be a hit based on how one of the Idols sang it.

Andrew Garcia – Gimme Shelter

Poor Andrew…he is just totally pigeon holed into that one performance of Straight Up. I didn’t think this particular performance was as bad as what the judges said it was. It’s obvious that they hear something totally different live than we do at home. I think it was smart of Andrew to step away from the guitar and try to spotlight his vocals. He really tried and it wasn’t horrible. He’s got the voice. He just needs the material to deliver it and the Stones are not it.

Katie Stevens – Wild Horses

Meh. I don’t knock Katie for this…her voice sounded great. The song is a stinker. Yuck.

Lee Dewyze – Beast of Burden

I like Lee. He’s a honky version of Hootie. :-) He’s got a great commercial sound and since this was a Stones song that I could remember, I thought it was even better than the original which isn’t saying much because Mick Jaggar can’t sing.

Paige Miles – Honky Tonk Women

The song was “ok” and Paige finally showed off her vocals which are really good. It may have been a little too late though…I don’t think she can surpass the momentum that Lee, Crystal and Siobhan have.

Siobhan Magnus – Paint It Black

Yeah…meet this year’s Adam Lambert (according to Kara)…SORT OF. This was dramatic, I suppose. But this was another one that was highly praised by the judges that sounded kinda all over the place to me. It was flat in many places and just weird. Her lower register seems to cause her problems. And Simon is right, she can’t scream every week. Last week was as WHOA…this week was a WHAT?! If she does it again next week, hide your fine crystal. There has to be more to her than that one note. Still…she’s come out of this from being obscure to being a front runner. Not too shabby…

Aaron Kelly – Angie

Meh… again.. The song was boring…it really was. He sounded ok… I’m just not getting it with him…

Lacey Brown – Ruby Tuesday

Another Stones song that I actually knew. And I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the sound of her voice. I didn’t like the flow of the song. I just didn’t like it. :-( She’s a cute girl but I’m afraid there isn’t much room for a wide variety of song material. Kinda boring, if you ask me.

Tim Urban – Under My Thumb

Chalk this one up to another song I didn’t know so I had no expectations about it. I didn’t see the point of the harsh criticism. He obviously did something to the song that made it very different. I think the song itself is ridiculous but I liked the reggae sound he gave it. I didn’t think it was uber-suckage but it wasn’t great either. I wouldn’t worry about him getting too far if you’re one of those who is freaking out about why he’s still there. I am willing to bet that enough people like him “enough” to get him into the top 10 so he’ll be on the tour. But I doubt he’ll go much further than top 9.

Crystal Bowersox – You Can’t Always Get What You Want

Quick! Someone tell Crystal that you don’t divulge too much information about how you were feeling – in particular you don’t tell people that you just aren’t into it or you aren’t focusing on the competition, etc. They’ll start to think that you just don’t care. Crystal has a non-chalant attitude and in some ways that’s cool because her performing seems effortless. But then it’s annoying because if she’s not in it to win it then why is she there? I like her voice. I like her sound. She’s very good. But it’s starting to sound a little one dimensional and the same each week. She needs to change it up and I don’t know if that means losing the guitar like Andrew did or doing a different instrument or what. She needs to show MORE.The Results…So, who left? At the beginning I mentioned that when I actually sat down to watch the performances, Lacey and Paige were named the bottom two. If I had to guess at that moment who would go, it would have been Paige because there just wasn’t a whole lot there to go with in terms of her performances and what we knew about her. Idol seemed to pay more attention to the others. But after watching the performances, it was Lacey who should have gone because her vocals just aren’t that strong, at least for the material she’s been singing. Her performance this week was really pitiful compared to many of the others. It ended up that she was the one sent home and it was the right choice.

American Idol: Top 12

I’ve been reading the blogs and news sites with critiques about the Top 12 reveal this morning. I am bewildered at why they haven’t a clue as to why Alex Lambert and Lily What’sherface were sent home. Alex, while he has an interesting voice has yet to to let go of his fear and just perform. He stands petrified at the microphone each week and despite being given every opportunity to come out of his shell, he just would never even peek his head out. As for Lily, she made weird faces while she sang. Her voice while folksy and different doesn’t have that mainstream appeal. I don’t see her filling stadiums – coffee shops? Yeah. But that’s about all. I’m no expert but I am not short on opinions. I would most likely never buy their music. I could possibly listen to Alex but he’s such a bump on a log in the personality department that I wouldn’t dream of shelling out money to see him live. Does that mean he wouldn’t ever evolve into a great performer? No. It’s just an indicator that he’s just not ready for this. What America did was put them out of their misery (or ours) sooner rather than later. So, who’s left:Aaron KellyAaron Kelly - I just got back from a visit to Pennsylvania where my late husband was from. To my surprise I saw billboards with this kid’s face up everywhere in my husband’s hometown. Ends up this kid is from there and he’s got a solid local support group that is determined to help him get ahead in this competition. Fortunately for him, he’s made the top 10 with their help, I am sure. Unfortunately for him, he’s got the rest of America that could work against him unless he can stay away from songs that are too big for him. He really risked it this past week with “I’m Already There”…a great song but not one that he should sing. Content wise it wasn’t appropriate for a young kid to sing and style wise it just seemed like a BIG song…too big. Anyway, I think he’s likely to make top 10 but I don’t see him going any further than maybe top 7.Andrew GarciaAndrew Garcia - Yeah…he’s been kinda disappointing lately. I thought his rendition of Genie in a Bottle, while not as great as Straight Up, wasn’t as bad as the judges let on. I still think he can make something of this and get into the top 4 at least.Casey JamesCasey James - There was no question that Casey would take a spot in the top 12. He’ll be in the top 10 for sure. I think he’ll round out the top 5. I am not sure what he can do differently. He is what he is.Crystal BowersoxCrystal Bowersox - Crystal is the one to beat. She’s been consistently good however I have yet to hear her sing a song a different way. They sound like really good copies of the originals. To seal the deal, she’ll need to pull a David Cook and pick a totally unexpected song and completely change it.Didi BenamiDidi Benami - She’s getting a lot better. Her take on Fleetwood Mac’s song this week was her best yet and if she continues to do that, she could see a top 5 spot too. But I question if she’s capable.Katie StevensKatie Stevens - Well, like Andrew, she could have peeked too early or maybe she is a victim to over exposure. It’s very obvious that these elimination shows are way too much for her to take. Maybe things will be different now that the top 12 is in place and the producers and music coaches can focus on less people. I still think she’s got the potential to be one of the last ones standing but as of this point, I don’t think she’s got it in her to win.Lacey BrownLacey Brown - Surprised to see Lacey still chugging along. She’ll be vulnerable pretty much weekly. Unless she can pull out a show stopper, she will be singing for her life until she’s voted off. She will need to work hard to make Top 10.Lee DewyzeLee Dewyze - Lee has gotten better each week. I originally said he was “a’ight” but he’s GOOD! I like him more and more as times goes on. I really can see him and Crystal toe to toe in the finale and that could make up for the fact that so far, this season has been beyond dull.Michael LyncheMichael Lynche - Michael is great. I can’t help but like him. His singing is fabulous. He isn’t cut from the typical mold and yet, he’s a great entertainer. He has a very nice voice and he could be in it to win it, too. I am thinking he could very well be in the Top 3.Paige MilesPaige Miles - Wow. I am actually surprised she survived this week’s cut. Her performance was super weak. I think she has lots of friends to thank for helping push her into the Top 12. She’s going to need that help to get into the top 10. I have heard some inkling of a great voice in her songs the past couple weeks but she’s another person who has gotten this far under the radar and is lucky to still be here. I am not sure she can get past some of the others to even survive much further than top 9 let alone top 10.Siobhan MagnusSiobhan Magnus - She still bugs me a little but I like her lots more than when the top 24 was announced. Her personality grates on my nerves. I am not sure why. She’s kinda weird. But when she sings, she can SING! It’s really good. There is definitely something there. Top 5?Tim UrbanTim Urban - Cuteness over substance! The thing is that Tim sang for his life this week and delivered his best performance. Like Lacy, he will need to sing like his life depends on it week in and week out. Just the fact that he’s in the top 12 means that he could make top 10 on his looks alone. What does that say about the voters? So, who will be in the coveted Top 10 that goes on tour?? Hmmmm… Well, I think Paige and Tim are the next to go – followed by Lacy, Didi and Aaron. That leaves Siobhan, Andrew, Lee, Crystal, Michael, Katie and Casey left and the order in which they’re voted off will depend upon which week they totally screw up. Right now if I had to pick a top 2 I would pick Lee and Crystal. Based on the performances the past 3 weeks, I pick the following for the top 5 – Crystal, Lee, Michael, Casey and Andrew.

American Idol – Top 16 Recaps

Since I was gone last week, I am playing catch up. Last week’s performances aren’t really worthy of a recap. The people that went home deserved to go. So let’s move on…Michael Lynche – This Woman’s Work – Wow. This was really REALLY good.  However I thought Kara crying was a bit much. Kinda thought she was channeling Paula or something. Still…he deserved all the kudos. He just seems like the unlikely star but his voice is so good. I’m not sure he can win but he will surely be right up there in the top half of who’s standing when we head into the end of this season.Todrick Hall – Somebody to Love - Meh. I dunno. Yeah. This finally showcased his voice which was really good in this song. I agreed with Simon though…he’s a theatrical singer and not what I’d call a recording artist. I just don’t see him doing anything commercial at all. And he rubs me the wrong way. He is a little too into himself which to me isn’t very likable. So if there are many that think the same as I do then I think he is vulnerable this week and this could be his last week.Aaron Kelly – I’m Already There  - This was good in some parts and pretty bad in others. Aaron’s vocals fell pretty flat in some parts of the song and it didn’t begin well. He seemed to pull it out towards the middle of the song but it was just OK. Unless he can get all of Middle Pennsylvania to vote for him like a million + times then he could be vulnerable too this week.Casey James – You’ll Think of Me – Me likey! :-D Prior DWI arrests and icky mug shot photos aside, the boy is making amends now and finding his path. He is super cute to look at and has a voice to match. The commercial appeal is endless with him. I cannot see how he does NOT make Top 10. He needs to be on the tour because…well, he just needs to be.. :-) Andrew Garcia – Genie in a Bottle  - Whoa. What?! Ha ha. I was like how will he sing this song?!? And he kinda made kinda Carlos Santana-ish and funky and totally not like the original which is good because it’s Christina Aguilara but whatever. He’s forever the guy who sings chick songs and sings them well. Is it as good as his rendition of Straight Up? Nah. But it’s good enough to keep him in there because (1) there are others that suck way more than him and he has more talent in his pinky finger than they could ever have. Like this performance or not, he proved he can take risks and that he can take a song that you wouldn’t imagine a guy, much less a guy like him, singing and make it his own. I liked it.Tim Urban – Hallelujah - Tim may have saved himself with this performance because this was his best yet. He really hasn’t been good at all while he’s been on the show. But this performance was the first time I thought he actually proved he had a good voice – something that goes beyond his boyish good looks. The problem for him is that there are previous week’s performances working against him and that there are others who are better and who have established a fan base. I am not sure he can sustain for another week . IF he made it, then I don’t think he could make top 10 for the tour. That being said the 11 year olds that vote for him may get him through so they can have some good meet and greet experiences this summer. But still…hmm..he’s super vulnerable this week.Alex Lambert – Trouble – This person can’t produce a personality to save his life. He constantly looks petrified to be there (with good reason but really…c’mon!) and I always wonder when he’ll just toss his cookies in the middle of the song. Still, he’s got a really interesting voice.  There could be real potential there if he could just learn to perform. I don’t think he’s done enough to stick around. He’s gonna go home this week, I think.Lee Dewyze – Fireflies – Me likey some Lee.. :-) He’s a white Hootie. I just like his raspy voice. I have no idea what this song was as I have never heard it before but I liked it and I like him. He stays.Lilly Scott – I Fall To Pieces - This wasn’t good. You just don’t mess with Patsy Cline unless you can sing the song as good as her and she didn’t. Still, she’s weird enough that people may vote her through just despite the fact that she drives me crazy. Ugh.Katie Stevens-Break Away - Yeah…this wasn’t great. It wasn’t BAD…but it doesn’t live up to the hype that Idol has given this poor little girl. I think she is still good enough to make top 10 but that top 5 that I predicted a few weeks ago?? Not so sure unless she can stop listening to the judges and start injecting her personality more into the performances. Otherwise….. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzSiobhan Magnus -  House of the Rising Sun - In the beginning I did not like Siobhan. She gave me the creeps but I must say that she has grown on me. I am liking her more and more. She needs to lose the nose ring though. It’s really distracting. She can be so pretty but every time I see that thing I just want to yank it out of her nose. I thought she really sang this song well. Her voice reminds me of Linda Ronstadt (sp). It’s almost as good. She has done enough to make top 10.Lacey Brown – No idea what song she sang - Whatever this song was fit her voice well. She sang it well. But she has yet to give a repeat wow performance like that she gave during Hollywood week. It’s great that she finally made it this far but there’s just nothing there with her. I dunno. No star factor. No stellar vocals. Not even a great performer. Just ok and that’s not good enough in my opinion to be moving on. She could go home this week.Katelyn Epperly – I Feel the Earth Move - This song sucked. Not because she sang it. Just because the song itself SUCKS. Of all the music, why? WHY did she sing this? Is it because she’s got hair to match? I dunno. The keyboard didn’t do her any favors. It was sung a’ight…but it was really blah. And she may have shot herself in the foot with that performance. Luckily for her, Paige did really poorly.Didi Benam – Rhiannon - I really liked this one!! I thought this was by far Didi’s best performance yet and I really thought she was going to mess up again and this would be the end. But this was really super good and she deserves to make top 12. Top 10?? Not so sure about that but this was great.Paige Miles – Smile – This was bad…. so bad. Which is really TOO bad because Paige has such a great voice but she really screwed up on this performance. And because I don’t think she’s got the fan base to support her I am not convinced she can make top 10 let alone Top 12. I wish I were wrong but of all the girls who deserved to go this week based on THIS week’s performances, it is her.Crystal Bowersox - Give Me One Reason – Awesome. Crystal is just so cool and calm and collected. She’s just like whatever, I know I rock. Crystal doesn’t give a crap if she doesn’t fit into this Idol mold. She knows who she is and what she wants to do and what she can do, she can do quite well. This song was hot. She is certainly the GIRL to beat.

Idol – Top 24 – The Guys Sing

The judges were as brutal as they could possibly get tonight. It’s interesting watching the first shows because of how honestly bad everyone is. Yes, there are some that are stronger than others but for the most part since it’s everyone’s first time in front of millions of people, they’re all on the same level playing field. Nerves were definitely a factor in addition to song choice and inappropriate behavior from the judges which really did cast a shadow on some of the performers – in particular Casey who I thought despite the idiotic antics of Kara, Simon and Randy held it together (but, barely). Tonight’s show, in my opinion was better than last nights. I don’t think the girls are – at this moment in time – any better than the guys. I was as underwhelmed as I could get last night and tonight, was more or less the same although I enjoyed it better. Maybe I just like guy singers better? Not sure. Here’s the recap…Aaron KellyAaron Kelly sings “Here Comes Goodbye” by Rascal Flatts - I am not sure it is wise to do a ballad the first time out on stage in front of 30+ million people. Unless you can really knock it out of the park, I wouldn’t do it. Ellen eluded to it sounding completely different vs watching it at home and I couldn’t agree more. Half the time I wonder what the heck the judges are hearing when they compliment a person and all I can think about is how much the performance sucked. Aaron’s performance didn’t suck. But it wasn’t great either. Just based on body language it did look like he was pretty nervous and I can sympathize. I couldn’t do what those guys are doing. However, if you want to be a star, you should be able to handle the pressure. Sure a few of them are a little green but well, they were picked over how many people? It was OK. The performance won’t win him any prizes – yet – but it will be enough to keep him around a little longer because there was definitely worse suckage coming from other people tonight.Alex LambertAlex Lambert sings “Wonderful World” – Since I don’t recall much of any of his auditions it was great to hear Alex sing. What an interesting voice. BUT… yuck on the stage presence! I wasn’t that impressed… but it’s early…he could redeem himself. I didn’t get the song. I don’t recognize it at all and so it was pretty dull for me.Andrew Garcia Andrew Garcia sings “Sugar We’re Going Down” by Fall Out Boy – Like Simon, this was the performance of the night that I was looking forward to the most. I am showing my age because I don’t know Fall Out Boy’s music. So I didn’t think the rendition of the song was as bad as what the judges made it out to be. I didn’t think the song itself was spectacular but I thought how he performed it was good. He’ll be fine and I believe he’ll make the top 10 but, he’ll have to do something that is more widely known otherwise he could risk getting lost in the mediocrity of it all.Casey JamesCasey James sings “Heaven” by Bryan Adams – I thought this was the best performance of the night and it could have very nearly been a disaster not of his doing if it weren’t for the 3 stooges sitting at the judges table. Kara inappropriately had Casey strip at his audition (although, I will say that it was pretty desperate for him to do so…I’ll forgive him because he’s cute) and she fawned over him almost like a dog in heat during Hollywood week and then tonight she was making goo-goo eyes at him while he sang. It was shameless. And it was all he could do to not burst out laughing. I think if it hadn’t been so ridiculous it could have been really insulting. He had every right to stop the song and tell them to knock it off. It totally put it at a disadvantage for him. BUT… he pulled it out. He managed to recover before it became a total mess and he sounded really great. It was the perfect song for him to sing and he looked great too.. the whole package.. :-) Jermaine SellersJermaine Sellers sings “Get Here” by Oleta Adams – Blech. This was just really bad. The song choice was sucky to begin with…of all Top 40 songs on the planet earth to sing and he chose this one? ARUGH! And then he made it suck worse than the original. It was screechy and painful to listen to. What is he doing in the top 24?Joe Munoz Joe Munoz sings “You and I Both” by Jason Mraz – NOT the Jason Mraz song I thought he’d sing… although, I only know ONE song from Jason Mraz..seriously, didn’t know the guy had more than one song… but whatever. This was the first time I heard Joe. He has a voice… but it wasn’t good during this song. And I don’t think he’s done enough to save himself this week let alone make the top 6 guys. I really think he’s done for this week or next.John Park John Park sings “God Bless The Child” – John has a rich baritone-ish voice which is not how I imagined him sounding. And he wasted it on this song…this crappy song. Mikaela Gordan sang this song several seasons ago…she was terrible and now look at her….in 3 years he’ll have his eyebrows raised and get a boobjob if he’s not careful. Pick a better song!!!!Lee Dewyze Lee Dewyze sings “Chasing Cars” by SnowPatrol – Randy was totally wrong in his assessment. This was totally the RIGHT song for Lee to sing and he did well for most of it. I think the hook part of the song was a little off but over all, this performance and the sound of his voice makes him stand out. I am not sure he could win this as only time will tell if he can get stronger. But he’s good. Top 10 for sure.Michael Lynche Michael Lynche sings “This Love” by Maroon 5 - This was really not a bad performance. I agree with the judges in that he’ll make it through because he is likable and not your typical looking singer. I am a little put off by his build though…he looks rather strange standing up there holding a guitar and do his little jig. It’s just awkward. But if you close your eyes, you’ll hear that his voice is strong and there is definitely possibilities there.Tim Urban Tim Urban sings Apologize by One Republic – A big deal was made over how Tim was brought in last minute to fill the slot that was once held by the disqualified and shamefully ignorant Chris Golightly. I am glad he was brought back. BUT…the song was too big for him. It wasn’t a good performance at all and he could have very well blew his chance. If not this week, he will probably not make it in the next 2 unless he can get the girls to vote for him. He is cute…but so far, he’s not strong enough vocally to carry a solo act.Todrick HallTodrick Hall sings “Since U Been Gone” by Kelly Clarkson – Those judges are so fickle. They moan and complain about making a song your own and when someone actually tries to do it, they give him grief. Granted, it was a crappy re-mix of a rock song but still… at least give him credit for trying to mix it up. Yeah, this wasn’t too good. This was a huge hit for the original Idol, Kelly Clarkson and he butchered it. That may not go over too well with Idol purists and he could be in trouble.Tyler GradyTyler Grady sings “American Woman” – The winner for the creepy Idol award goes to Tyler. He really weirds me out. I can’t look at him and when I am not looking at him, I am having to listen to him and when I do that my ears…OH may ears… I think they bleed! His schtick is getting OLD. FAST. I am not sure he’s capable of singing anything other than 70s rock and to some people that is a real turn off. He doesn’t have a really strong voice to begin with and he’s relying too heavily on his swagger (which is gross, btw) to get him through. Yeah.. I didn’t like this at all.Going home this week??? Well.. let’s see… I’ll just cut to the chase because it doesn’t matter who goes home this week because whoever doesn’t go this week, will go next week and the week after. What matters is the Top 10 and my predictions are….Boys: Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Michael Lynche,  Lee Dewyze and John Park (it’s actually a toss up between John, Todrick and icky Tyler for the last spot)Girls: Crystal Bowersox, Katelyn Epperly, Katie Stevens, Michelle Delamor, Page Miles and a toss up between Siobhan Magnus, Lacey Brown and Didi Benami.Who will persevere? I think we can count on Andrew, Casey, Lee, Cyrstal, and Katie to round out the top 5. Of course things can change as the weeks go on but as what I’ve seen right now, these are the top 5 to beat.
